IBM has been running Lotus ads on many websites since September 2007. These include sites like linkedin, 43folders, and cnn.com. CNN.com was "bought out" on our launch day September 18.
On the broader discussion, without sounding like I have my "head in the sand", IBM has publicly reported revenue growth for Lotus for twelve consecutive quarters, specifically calling out the Notes revenue in several of those announcements. According to IDC, Notes gained market share in 2006 while Microsoft lost share (these are their most recent numbers, and they reflect a worldwide market). Notes 8 set records on beta participation and downloads since released.
All of the signs point to a healthy and growing business, so in no way is IBM leaving it for dead. One certainly can't look at Notes 8 and feel like IBM isn't investing in Notes -- this was the biggest release ever, with more developers working on Notes 8 than any prior release, and over 2000 usability tests conducted prior to release. The next Domino release will have similar good news for application developers and administrators -- watch for announcements at Lotusphere in two weeks.
